It has been our dream home for 15 years.  A spacious farmhouse with an independent guest cottage/granny flat, several outbuildings, mature garden and paddock.

We are selling now, because we have more land than we need since we lost our last horse, and a larger house than we need. This is a property that should have a horse, or a couple of ponies, and ideally a few children running around playing cowboys and Indians.

The location is idyllic. It's in a small hamlet of 12 houses, amongst a huge expanse of open fields. Our house is the last one, at the centre of the hamlet. There is no passing traffic, so children and animals are quite safe.

There is a small, very quiet village 2 kilometers away, with a cafe/bar/restaurant/basic shop and bakery, the mandatory church, and a couple of first class public tennis courts.

Four kilometers. in the opposite direction is a slightly larger village with two excellent restaurants, chemist, small supermarket and bakery, and mandatory church.

The nearest town of any size is 10 kilometers away and has everything one expects of a market town. A market, of course, a number of restaurants, several large supermarkets, mouthwatering bakeries, a very lovely park straddling the Charente river, and a beautiful little cinema which regularly shows the latest English-language films. Don't forget about the mandatory church.

We are 80 kilometers from the lively port of La Rochelle, and 40 kilometers south of the historic and lovely city of Poitiers.

Four airports are within comfortable reach - Poitiers, Angouleme, Limoges and La Rochelle, all offering frequent flights to the UK and other parts of Europe.

The people of Poitou are by nature slow, quiet and gentle, courteous and generally very welcoming, without being effusive. The land is fertile, mostly arable, growing wheat, fodder, maize and in the summer gigantic seas of sunflowers.
